I have been finishing studying my subject nutrition for fertility, pregnancy and lactation and am about to embark on my very last subject for the course I’m doing (which will be meal planning!)
With that all fresh in my mind and me being 22 weeks pregnant I thought I would share some of my favourite things for pregnancy, birth and beyond so far.
CALM BIRTH WORKSHOPS With my first child (who is now nearly 2) I didn’t go to any hospital classes because quite frankly, the thought of them scared the crap out of me and I did the Calm Birth workshop instead which I absolutely loved and found it to be so helpful when the time came to birth my baby.
There are calm birth workshops everywhere but I have linked the one I attended which is in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs.
WELL ADJUSTED BABIES by JENNIFER BARNHAM FLOREANI This was my favourite book during those early days when I was up all day and night with a newborn. It’s such an easy read by a mother of four all about nutrition for fertility, breastfeeding and beyond, how to have a safe, natural birth, tips for dealing with things like reflux and colic and so much more.
ROCKSTAR BIRTH MAGAZINE This magazine is your pregnancy bible and covers everything you need to have an empowered birth whether you have natural, caesar or whatever, it showcases real life stories from real life mamas and you can read my amazing birth story in the mag too! LAVENDER AND FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OILS It’s likely you know by now how much I love essential oils right? hehe, well these are my 2 that I use mostly. I diffuse them, add a couple of drops to my shower base before jumping in here and there, and I also use frankincense with fractionated coconut oil as a moisturiser or add a drop to my facial moisturiser.
MY GOODNESS ORGANICS MEAL DELIVERY MELBOURNE I was lucky enough to have my step mum and mother in law cook for me in the first week or so of having a newborn.
After that I ordered a weeks worth of meals from this company as I was still breastfeeding, awake at all hours, Nick had gone back to work and I just didn’t have the energy to cook. This meant I could just focus on breastfeeding (which I found extremely difficult) and just be with my baby learning to be a new mum. It also meant I was eating SUPER healthy while breastfeeding which I think is really important.
BABY BISTRO This one is another meal delivery company with some stockists around Melb as well. It’s meals for babies and toddlers though! So when you can’t be bothered/don’t have time to cook or are pregnant and still have a toddler to feed and want your child eating food that is nutritious this is the company for you. I can’t tell you how many times I have ordered baby bistro and there have been absolutely no complaints from my almost 2 year old. Also, just as a side note, I have sometimes eaten one of the meals for myself also. lol.
I’d love to hear things you have loved during your pregnancy’s so comment below and let me know!
